Road Repairs in Central Monrovia

(This is an old map and does not have all the streets in central Monrovia)

The Road is coming!

With the repair of the Vai Town Bridge which collapsed in 2006, city planners and public works are planning new routes to ease traffic congestion in central Monrovia.

The bridge will create a Y. One leg will connect to Ashmun and Center Streets in the alley next to CWA, and another leg will take the old path to waterside. Newport Street is being open up from Carey Street to Waterside and Robert Street is also being open up from Broad Street to Front Street, that means all the houses in the path of the road, must come down.

Below are pictures of the clearing of illegally built houses in the path of Newport Street in preparation of the new road.

Newport Street will be opened from United Nations Drive in Waterside to United Nations Drive in Coconut Plantation. Robert Street will be open from Benson Street to Front Street.

The path near the Episcopal Church on Broad Street has been cleared. This is between Broad and Carey Streets
