On June 18, 2010, Hot Meal Ministry, an organization for the down trodden and homeless people in Monrovia organized and held a Miss Monrovia Gala at the Providence Baptist church on Ashmun and Center Streets, in Monrovia. The Hot Meal Ministry organization feeds approximately 470 people every Friday, of which 62 are women. The purpose of the Miss Monrovia Gala was to help the homeless build their self-esteem.

Five women were selected for a day of pampering which included gifts of 2 complete outfits, a day at the beauty saloon for hair, nails and makeup, plus a night of dining along with their dates to one of 5 restaurants in Monrovia. The restaurants involved in this event included La Point, Krystal View, Cape Hotel, PA Rib House and Rosie. The recipients and their dates were chauffeured to their restaurant of choice.
