Professor
Joseph G. N. Barlefay
We
regret to announce the sad news of the passing
of Professor Joseph G. N. Barlefay, formerly known
as Professor Nelson of the Sociology Department
of the University of Liberia. This sad event occurred
on December 21, 2005, within twelve hours of complaining
of abdominal pain at the St. Joseph Catholic Hospital
in Monrovia. Professor Barlefay served the UL
for over three decades with honor and distinction.
He rose from the rank of instructor to Dean of
Liberia College and lately, Acting Vice-President
for Academic Affairs of the University of Liberia.
He leaves to mourn his transition one son and
a host of other relatives and friends, both in
Liberia and the USA.
Funeral
Services will be as follow:
Funeral services will be held in Monrovia, Liberia
on January 10-11, 2006.
Wake
keeping:
The remains will lie in state for public viewing
in the UL auditorium on Tuesday January 10, 2006,
from 4pm to 7pm.
Wake keeping will be held at the deceased Matadi
home on Tuesday January 10, 2006 at 9:00pm.
Funeral
service:
Will be held on Wednesday January 11, 2006 beginning
at 10:00am at the St. Peter Lutheran Church on
14th St.
Burial
Interment will be at the J. C. N. Howard cemetery
in Paynesville.
