Annette Albertha Hollowonger Goodridge Murray-Floyd

The family of Mrs. Annette Goodridge Murray-Floyd wishes to announce with love and gratitude in their hearts the peaceful passing of their beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, cousin, sister-in-law and dear friend, Annette Albertha Hollowonger Goodridge Murray-Floyd on Sunday, June 4, 2017 at the Atlanticare Regional Medical Center in Pomona, New Jersey after a 3 year battle with dementia and complications of a stroke.

Annette was born and raised in Crozierville, Monsterrado County, Liberia unto the union
Of the late Shadrack Alexander Goodridge and Sarah Amanda Hollowonger Goodridge. She was
The last of nine (9) children (all of her siblings predeceased). Annette attended the American Lutheran Mission School in Harrisburg, the St. John’s High School in Cape Mount County, and the Monrovia College in Liberia. She was married to Roynell Abner Murray (predeceased) and the union was blessed with (10) Children (7 of her body and 3 step children (2 predeceased). Annette was also blessed with another child Rexie Porte.

She taught at St. Patrick High School for four years. She was employed at the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Urban Reconstruction for six years. She was then called to the Executive Mansion where she worked as an Executive Secretary; she later transferred to the Ministry of Public Works where she worked for another six years. Later, she was commissioned as the Administrative Assistant to Taylor Major of the Public Utilities Authority (LEC- Liberia Electric Company) by the late President Tubman. On April 1, 1975, she was appointed Special Assistant to the Minister of Justice (Oliver Bright), which position she held until 1981 when she retired, after serving her country for 40 unbroken years.

Annette migrated to the United States in 1981 and met and married Younst Floyd of Staten Island (Predeceased). She lived in Staten Island where she was a member of the Union Seventh Day Adventist Church and served as a member of various church organizations including the women and hospital ministries. She was an evangelist and received a Certificate and Diploma as a Lay Evangelist and Lay Preacher. She also served as an Elder of the church and sang in the choir. She worked for The United Cerebral Palsy organization in Manhattan until her retirement. In 2008 due to failing health, Annette relocated to Southern New Jersey, to live with her Daughter, Annette Murray. She joined the Seashore Seventh Day Adventist Church in Pleasantville and continued to serve her Lord. She was a pillar of Strength to her family, church and community.

Annette is survived by her children: Rainsford Rho (Gwen), Afulabe, Roydee, Lynnette, Olive (Kwayienee), Annette, Roynelle and Rexie (Ernest, Sr.); Her grandchildren: Luenne, Nathan (Joselyn), Nyoweh, Kpanna, Supuwuo, Koliawuo, Dannie, Archie, Yannick, Ariel, Tenomewah, Taiwo-Abner, Ernest, Jr, William Wade`, Kpingba Bernard (predeceased); Great Grandchildren- Lahti, Naj, John, Nyla, Jasira, Janaan, Pierre; Nieces (especially Araba Abedu-Bentsi-Woart & Eliza Goodridge-Simpson), nephews, cousins, In-laws, church family and dear friends.

May the soul of our beloved mother rest in Everlasting peace!
