Mrs. Mildred Soko Watta Gbegbe (September 6 , 1941 - December 20, 2017)

“A Devoted Wife, Loving Mother to all and A Sister; A Devout Christian, Veteran Liberian Educator, Genuine Philanthropist  and   Humanitarian; A Loyal and Proud Daughter of Bohlahun, A Voice of Lofa  and A Committed and Outstanding  Citizen of the Republic of Liberia."

The Gbegbe, Akoi  and  the many closely related family members; the families and friends of Bohlahun; the families and friends of Lofa, Liberia, Guinea and the United States announce with profound regrets the home going of Mrs. Mildred Soko Watta Gbegbe, former clerk at the Supreme Court, Republic of Liberia; former Principal, Paynesville Community School (PCS); District Education Officer, Chief Education Officer, Montserrado County; Principal Head of Office, West African Examination Council; Staunch and founding member of Bolahun Alumni , Friends & Family Association (BAFA); and member Episcopal Church Women (ECW). 

Mrs.  Mildred Soko Watta Gbegbe , affectionately called " Mamie", "Ma Mai", "Aunty Mildred", "Soko Watta", "Cousin Mildred", "Mamie Gbegbe", "Grandma", "Grandma Gbegbe" and "Crowd of Girl" was born unto the union of the late  Simon Akoi and Paula Miatta. This sad event occurred on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at 3:00 P.M.  at the John F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital in Monrovia, Liberia.

Mamie leaves to mourn her loss, her husband of forty-eight years, Dr. Fredrick S. Gbegbe, former President University of Liberia; many, many children, grand and great grand children. She is survive by many sisters, brothers, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, grandsons-in-law, extended families of Bolahun, Lofa, Liberia, Guinea and the United States; former employers and associates of the Supreme Court of Liberia, Ministry of Education and the West African Examination Council;  members and friends of the Bolahun Alumni , Friends & Family Association and Episcopal Church Women.

Mamie will be missed. May her soul and all the souls of the faithfully departed rest in eternal peace. Amen.

Interment Services: Saturday January 27, 2018, 11:00 A.M. Saint Mary's Episcopal Church in Bolahun, Lofa County
