One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to enquire in his temple.

The Bettie, Gibson, Higgins, Williams, Gardiner, and Dorbor families regret to announce the home-going of Mrs. Hasty Rose Bettie-Gibson who peacefully went to be with the Lord in the early hours of February 22, 2013, surrounded by loved ones. May her soul rest in perpetual peace. Hasty was predeceased by her parents William and Idell Bettie, her husband Garretson Wilmot Gibson, brothers James and William Bettie, her sister Cecelia Hill, and her son Horace Gibson.

Hasty Rose Bettie-Gibson was born on April 10th, 1935 in Johnsonville Monrovia Liberia. She attended St. Theresa Convent and was married in 1954 to Garretson Wilmot Gibson. She loved to cook and sew, and enjoyed spending quality time with her family and friends. She was a faithful member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Brockton MA, which she attended for several years. Hasty was a loving, determined, hardworking woman who gave her all in everything she did. She was the rock of her family, a devoted wife and mother, nurturing grandmother, and admirable friend.

She leaves to mourn her loss while cherishing her memories, her daughters, Gracia Gibson and Inga Gibson-Higgins, adopted daughter Willamina, her brother, Johnny Bettie, her sisters Victoria Sayenneh, Christiana Bettie and Rhoda Bettie.  Grandkids: Jamesetta Williams-Gardiner, Natalie Williams-Dahn, Inez and Isaac Dorbor, Rosica, Rochelle, Rokia and Ronelle Higgins and Garretson Wilmot Gibson II.
Greatgrands: Gianni, Giavanna, Niara, Trinitee, Rianna, Ivin, Isaiah, Davion, Max, and a host of Nieces, Nephews, In-laws, and other relatives.

Funeral Services:
Wake: Friday March 8, 2013 at Gregory B. Levett and Sons funeral home (Gwinnett Chapel) 914 Scenic Hwy. Lawrenceville GA at 8pm.


Funeral: Saturday March 9, 2013 at St. Edwards Episcopal Church 737 Moon Road. Lawrenceville GA at 9am.


Repast: To follow at St. Edwards Episcopal Church
