Mr. Joseph Lionel Christlow Gittens
The Gittens, Gerring and Eastman families with loving compassion, announce the passing of their dear brother, uncle and father Mr. Joseph Lionel Christlow Gittens. Our beloved peacefully passed away at his home on August 30, 2018.
Born on December 16, 1940, to the union of Lionel Rufus and Ellen Gerring-Gittens, Joseph Gittens attended the Monrovia College in his early years. He joined the Liberia National Police Force where he dutifully served for many years before retiring. Joe Gittens as he was popularly called, loved friends and loved soccer. He was once a beloved Barrolle soccer star in his heyday and lived a life where friends frequently visited him on 19th st Sinkor.
(Bor) Joe leaves to mourn his loss, his wife of several years Fatu Gittens, his siblings Rachel Gittens-Eastman and Lydia Gittens, his children Sophie Gittens, Emmanuel Gittens and Martha Gittens. He was predeceased by his father and mother, Lionel Rufus and Ellen Gerring-Gittens, his siblings Martha Smith Stubblefield, Lionel Rufus Gittens Jr., his children Henry Gittens, Lydia Gittens and Lionel Gittens.
Unlcle Joe’s home going services will be held at the Anderson’s Funeral Home on Saturday September 15th, 2018 at 11:00 am. His interment will immediately follow at J.C. Howard cemetery in Paynesville.
