Biographical Sketch of Mrs. Elizabeth Dwedee Waynie Gray

It is with great sadness that the Gray and Sonpon families announce the passing of their wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Mrs. Elizabeth Dwedee Waynie Gray, 80 years of age, on Tuesday, August 23, 2016, at about 7:30 a.m. in Monrovia, Liberia with her family by her side.

Mrs. Gray was born on December 24, 1936 in Grand Kru County in the Republic of Liberia to Toe Tweh Sonpon and Gmasnoh Seedee. She was dedicated to her family, her church, and her community. Her interests included cooking, baking, and rendering service to her community. She devoted her time and energy as caregiver and advisor to her family including her son Michael Gray.  She leaves to mourn her husband Peter Dortu Gray, six children, nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends in the United States of America and Liberia. She was preceded in death by her son, Emmanuel Gray, and daughter, Helena Gray.

Her remains are deposited at the Abraham Roberts Funeral Home, Gardnerville, opposite the Stephen Tolbert Estate.

A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, September 10, 2016 at the Union Chapel AME Church at 209 Wainwright Street, Newark, New Jersey.

Family Wake Keeping is scheduled for Friday, September 16, 2016 at the deceased’s home in New George, U Curve Community.

The Funeral service will be on September 17, 2016 at Dweedee’s church, Abundant Life Outreach Ministry in Bend & Stop Community, Estate Road, and Barnesville Township.
