Charlie Lawrence Hoffman

We announce with profound regret the death of Charlie Lawrence Hoffman, born 3/19/1921 and departed this world 6/14/2015.
He was a veteran of the US Navy & Reserves, and served in WWII & the Korean War. Charlie was also a member of the Armed Forces of Liberia, West Africa.

He worked for The LAMCO JV Operating Company in Nimba County, Liberia, and became a popular voice on radio ELNR in Yekepa where most people remember him signing on and off as “Smiling Charlie Chuck Hoffman”!

Charlie leaves to mourn his death his former wife, Fasia Massaquoi, his brother-in-law,  friend, and caretaker, Fritz Massaquoi; his children, Charlene Hoffman Henry, Charles Lahai Hoffman, Tobertha Hoffman Jackson (Lamar), Denise Musu-Hawa Hoffman, Wokie Massaquoi-Wicks (Stephen), Geleh Massaquoi & Ulrich Hoffman; his grandchildren, Gerald, Edward, Erica, Wiatta,  Sedia, Yasameen, Lahai, Tonia, Sanzeray, Nayeema, Audrey, Devlin; 6 great grandchildren; The Baha’i Community of Knoxville, Tennessee; and a host of friends who loved and admired him.

According to Charlie’s wishes, his funeral arrangements were in accordance with The Baha’i Traditions.
