Deacon Gamaliel Marcus (VON) Kelley

It is with profound sadness that the Kelley, Frazier, Greene, Trinity, Marshall and Neyor families announce the passing away in his 82nd year of our husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle the Honorable Gamaliel Marcus Kelley Jr. A career diplomat and servant of the Lord, commonly referred to as VON or G Marcus. This sad event occurred on Thursday, February 2nd at the Staten Island University Hospital.

Honorable G Marcus (VON) Kelley was a career diplomat of over 40 years serving in Sierra Leone, Kenya, Egypt, Sweden, former USSR, Canada and Romania in addition to multiple accreditations to several other countries. He rose from Third Secretary to Minister Counselor and was named as ambassador to Sierra Leone during the interim government of Dr. Amos Sawyer but circumstances prevented him from appearing for confirmation. Von was also an ordained Deacon and served as financial secretary of the Trinity Baptist Church in Staten Island, NY.

Deacon Kelley is survived by his wife of 26 years Willette “Mom Tee-tee” Trinity Kelley, his children Alieu V. Kamara (Brindusa), Billy Kanwee, Eugenia Jane-Ann Kelley, brothers Lewis Kelley (Josephine), Mackerson Kelley (Henrietta), Joseph Trinity (Elsie), Franklin Trinity (Agnes), Winston Trinity, Samson Trinity & his sisters Martha Kelley, Millie Kelley Mary Davids, grandchildren Sophia White (Zack), G Marcus Neyor (Rose), Christopher Neyor Jr. and Madea Ethel Neyor, Philip Kamara, Patrick Kamara and a host of nieces and nephews. His daughter Susan Ethel Neyor, brother Joseph Andrew Kelley and sister Meliah Clementine Madison predeceased him.
