The McCarthy, Matthew and Barquoi families regret to announce the passing of our beloved Emelia McCarthy Manjoe, which occurred on Saturday, July 22, 2017. Emelia, commonly called Aunty Kumba, was a 1966 graduate of Voinjama High School, Lofa County, Liberia, and also a 1968 graduate of TNIMA nursing school in Monrovia, Liberia. In 1970 Emelia migrated to the United States and attended New York State University and graduated as a registered professional nurse in October 1975.
She leaves to mourn her loss her Step-Mother Mary K. McCarthy, seven sisters, Elizabeth McCarthy Barquoi, Caroline M. Halowanga, Fatu M. Jackson, Susana M Saa, Sarah McCarthy and Celestine K. Karnga; ten brothers, including Abraham McCarthty and Jacob McCarthy; 30 Nephews, inclucing G. Moses Barquoi, Jr., Mckeen Doe, Gaduobah M. Doe, Patrick Barquoi, Sumo Barquoi; 35 Nieces, including Sia McCarthy Barquoi, Suwah Barquoi, Kebbeh Barquoi, Christina Matthew Edzii and host of other relatives in USA, Liberia, Sierra Leone, and other countries in West Africa.
