It is with deep sadness that the Mason & Payne families announce the death of our dear father, Grand-father, brother, uncle and friend Mr. Joe S. Mason, Sr. of Duahzon Town, Robertsfield Highway, Lower Margibi County. This sad event occurred at the St. Joseph's Catholic Hospital in Monrovia.

The deceased was former Secretary General and President of the General Agricultural & Allied Workers Union of Liberia (GAAWUL), former District Commissioner of Mambahn Kabba District, Margibi County, Bassa Governor & Tribal Chief of the B.F. Goodrich & Guthrie Plantations in Bomi County, where he worked for more than 20 years.
Mr. Mason is survived by a host of relatives and his many children to include Mr. Joe S. Mason, Jr., Mrs. Masah Mason Sobboh, Mrs. Helen Mason-Payway, Ms Victoria Mason, Mr. Lee S. Mason, Sr., Mrs. Comfort Mason-Settro, Mr. Ujaye Mason, Mr. Eddie Harmon, among others
