Honorable Edward R. Moore

Former Under Secretary of State, Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Assistant Attorney General for Codification, Commissioner of Immigration and Professor Louis Arthur Grimes School of Law, Monrovia, Liberia.

The Moore, Bull, Greene, Garber, Howard, Toles, Major and Elijah Johnson families announce with faith in the resurrection, the home-going of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and cousin, Honorable Edward Ray Moore, Sr., in his 87th year, on Thursday, October 18, 2012, at the Long Island North Shore Hospital at Forest Hills, New York, after a period of illness.

Edward R. Moore was predeceased by his parents, Major Joseph David Moore, and Mai L. Bull; four sisters, Toutsie Moore Thomas, Evelyna Moore, Catherine Moore and Carolyn L. Moore Mosley; five brothers, Gabriel Moore, James Moore, Garreson Moore, Joseph Bodo Moore, and David W. Moore; foster son, Allen Moore and daughter, Mae Amanda Moore. He is survived by his widow, Dr. Janet Greene Moore; children, Edvida Tarloh Moore, Edward R. Moore, Jr., Franklin David Moore, Derek Michael Moore (Elizabeth Jacobs Moore), and M’noa-Ray Moore Lawrence; three foster sons, Arthur Sackie Moore, Robert Moore, and Joseph Moore; grandchildren, Jugbeh Fluelling, Nim Obeid Williams, Fametta Taylor, Mandy Karpeh, Frankeda Moore, Massina Moore, Micah Moore, Lisa Gonzalez, George Moore, Michelle Moore, Royal Lawrence, and Israel Lawrence; and great-grandchildren, Tye Edward Jamison Phillips and Nadia Neter Aa Meri.

He is also survived by his brothers, Hon. William V. S. Bull, Sr. and Lafayette Moore; sister, Janet Moore Dalmeida (Alphonsus Dalmeida); several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 10, 2012, at the Grace Episcopal Church at 155-15 Jamaica Ave., Jamaica Queens, New York 11432 as follows:
