The Morris Family announce that on Wednesday, June 27, 2012, Richard Magnus Franz Morris was called home from his labor. He "...heard a voice from heaven saying, “Write this: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.” “Blessed indeed,” says the Spirit, “that they may rest from their labors, for their deeds follow them!” Revelation 14:13.
The Morris Family will shout Blessed be the name of the Lord!
Richard Morris was on born on June 15, 1934 to the union of Jacob Franz Morris and Mary Emma Morris in Farmerville, Since County, Liberia.
He was a dedicated husband and is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Lorraine Rennie Morris. Richard was an extremely proud, loving and devoted father to his children, Yatta Beckles (Aubrey), Marcus Morris (preceded in death, April 2012), Mayietta Morris-Moore (Henry), Michelle Morris Davies (Leonard), Christopher Morris and Francine Morris. His grandchildren include Franklin, Maya, and Ashley Beckles, Marcus Marcus Morris, Semah Davies, Henry Moore, Abraham Morris and Monsio Davies.
Richard's love for his family was unwavering. His surviving sisters include Jerusha Morris, Louise Wayne, Verdumi Morris Swen, Geneva Clark, Beatrice Woart and Laura Morris. His surviving brothers include J. Chauncey Morris, Joshua Morris and Samuel Morris. Twelve siblings preceded Richard in death. He also leaves to celebrate his life a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends.
Richard Magnus Franz Morris was a loyal statesman to his beloved Liberia. During his elustrous career, he served as President of Small Enterprise Financing Organization, 1981 to 1990; Director General at the National Social Security and Welfare Cooperation, 1976 to 1980; Principal Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Commerce Industry and Transportation, 1971 to 1975; and Director of Research at the Ministry of Planning and Economic Affairs, 1967 to 1970. Richard was very passionate about education and served the role of Assistant Professor of Mathematics and Economics at the University of Liberia.
