Mr. Mahmoud Abdullatif Mourtada

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Mr. Mahmoud Abdullatif Mourtada at the age of 76. Mr. Mourtada passed away on January 17th, 2012. He was born on May 4th, 1935 in the city of Tyre, South Lebanon, the son of the late Mohammed Mourtada and Laila Mourtada. He was one of 6 children, of which (3) three are still alive. He was married to Martha Potter Mourtada, who survives and resides in Mt. Barclay, Liberia.

He was a loving, dedicated, ambitious, determined and enthusiastic husband, father, grandfather, farmer and businessman. He traveled the world but finally chose Liberia as his home and worked and lived in Mt. Barclay, Liberia for over 40 years. He was an avid member of both the Liberian and Lebanese communities in Monrovia. He was affectionately known around the communities as "Mr. Mabutu", "The Papay" and "The ol' man".

He leaves to cherish his memories, his loving wife, Martha Potter Mourtada, his brothers; Mohammed Mourtada (in Lebanon), Ali Mourtada (in Ghana), sister Salwa Mourtada (in Lebanon), nieces and nephews in Lebanon, and his sons Abed Garswa Mourtada and Sami Mahmoud Mourtada, his daughter Salwa Mourtada, his grandchildren, Ali, Julian, Maya, Adam, Amina and Samia along with a host of relatives and friends far and near.

He was preceded in death by his mother Laila Mourtada; father Mohammed Mourtada; brother Abdullah Mourtada; sister Hanaan Mourtada, and his young daughter, Laila Annette Mourtada.

Please join us as we celebrate the life and the home going of our loving father Mr. Mahmoud Mourtada. Papa, we love you and will miss you dearly.
