Gilbert O. Okotie (The Legend of Gardnerville)

Sunrise: February 15, 1925-Sunset: February 20th, 2019

“Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.” Matthew 5:4

God saw him getting very tired, a cure was no longer possible.
The good Lord wrapped our father in His loving arms.
Whispering “come home my dear son.”

Papa suffered in silence, he had a strong spirit that did not break until the day he died.

He faced his pain with courage until the very end.
Papa fought so hard to stay on this side with us, but God had a different plan for him.

God’s plan was to take him home to be free from the pain and suffering of this world.

With heavy hearts and great sadness, the Okotie, Damijo, Jeweto and Gaye families announce the peaceful passing of our beloved father, brother uncle, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend Gilbert O. Okotie, A.K.A, G.O.O, Papa Loas, Dambura, Bucky you and Shakara, Papa, Mr. Okotie, Papa LOAS, as he was commonly called, peacefully transitioned into the loving arms of the most High while holding hands with one of his beloved daughters, Veronica Okotie on February 20th 2019 at 12:30 a.m. at ManorCare Chevy Chase.

We will always remember papa for his kindness, friendliness, intelligence, bravery and most importantly, a wonderful father to all.

Gilbert was predeceased by his loving wife Agnes Okotie and son Joseph M. Okotie. He leaves to mourn nine children: Winston V. Okotie, Agnes Okotie, Veronica Okotie, Raymond T.
