Canon Marilyn K. Robertson, widow of the late Rev. Fr. E. Bolling Robertson of the St. John’s Irving Memorial Episcopal Church, Grand Cape Mount County, Liberia died on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at the JFK Medical Center.She was in her 89th year.
Canon Marilyn Robertson was an American Missionary who first came to Liberia in 1961 to carry out missionary works within the Episcopal Diocese of Liberia. She was assigned to the House of Bethany and the St. John’s Episcopal High School where she met Rev. Fr. E. Bolling Robertson and they were married in 1962. Both of them continued their missionary works in Cape Mount until 1971, when Rev. Fr. Robertson was reassigned as Interim President of Cuttington College & Divinity School (now Cuttington University) at Suacoco, Bong County.
After Rev. Fr. Roberson’s interim presidency, they both served as members of the faculty of the Theology Department at Cuttington until their retirement.
Rev. Fr. Robertson himself died on June 16, 2006 and is buried at Rogation Ground atop the Cape Mount mountain in Robertsport.
On Wednesday, February 27, 2019, pre-cremation prayer services were held over the mortal remains of Canon Marilyn Robertson.
The funeral mass shall be held for Canon Marilyn Robertson on Friday, March 8, 2019 at the St. John’s Irving Memorial Episcopal Church, Robertsport at 10:00 0’Clock in the morning. Thereafter, a portion of her ashes shall be interred at Rogation Ground (next to Rev. Fr. Robertson’s grave). The other portion of her ashes shall be taken to Christ Episcopal Church, Las Vegas, Nevada, United States to be deposited alongside with the ashes of her late father, Rev. Fr. Arthur S. Kean and her late mother, Mrs. Ruby C. Levy-Kean. Some of the surviving immediate relatives of Canon Marilyn Robertson in the United States are her sister, Alice Whitaker of Oregon and her niece-in-law, Ann Robertson of Virginia.
