Mrs. Kolu Smith Sherman
Our family regretfully announce the sudden death of our mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and cousin, Mrs. Kolu Smith Sherman. Aunty Kolu, Aunty K, Garmai-Wedor, as she was also affectionately referred to by many, departed this earth on December 22, 2016. She was known for her infectious smile, which captured the hearts of everyone she came across. She was kind-hearted, welcoming and always willing to assist. Although our hearts are broken, we celebrate her life.
She was a graduate of Lutheran Training Institute (LTI), Tubman National Institute of Medical Arts (TNIMA) - Nursing School, Liberia
Kolu was predeceased by her mother, Korto M. Wolokolie, and her adopted father, Bishop Roland J. Payne.
She is survived by her Adopted Mother, Mrs. Pricilla Payne; her husband, Mr. Samuel Tarnue Sherman Sr.; three children, Korto Priscilla Sherman (KP), Samuel T. Sherman Jr. and Massa D. Sherman; three grandchildren, Henry D. Bendah, Samelia P. Sherman and Kodell Nolen her brother, Moses Monubah, and a host of sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends in the U.S. and Liberia.
Service in the U.S. will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2016 at the Trinity Lutheran Church, located at 6600 Laurel Bowie Rd (197), Bowie, MD 20715.
Viewing starts at 9:00 A.M, follow by the funeral service, which will begin at 10:00 AM and a repast will follow shortly after.
Interment is scheduled in Kakata, Liberia.Funeral details for Liberia will be included as soon as they become available.
