Taylor-Smith and Farr families regret to announce
the death of Professor James E. Taylor-Smith who
died on July 30th at home of his daughter Philomena
in Caldwell, Liberia. He was the husband of the
late Esther Farr Taylor-Smith who predeceased
Professor Taylor-Smith spent more than 45 years
in the educational field. He taught in several
schools including the People's College, St. Patrick
High School, Wells Hairston High School, Zorzor
Teacher's Training Institute (ZTTI), Kakata Teacher's
Training Institute (KRTTI), Kornola High School,
Liberty Theological Seminary. He also taught for
several years at the Tubman National Institute
of Medical Arts (TNIMA) and was also principal
at Boys Town. Professor Taylor-Smith served as
District Education Officer of Monsterrado County
and lastly taught History at the University of
Liberia. He was still into his late 70's. He taught
right up to 2001.
He leaves to mourn his children Eugene Himie,
Cecelia, Sally, Alice, Laura, Philomena, Armah,
Christina, Linda, and Brenedol. Two sisters -
Johnetta Taylor, Nyenatee Taylor, two brothers
- William and Winston Taylor, several nieces,
nephews, and relatives in the USA and Liberia.
He was the sister of the late Deanna Taylor.
Professor Taylor-Smith will be buried on Saturday,
August 13, 2005 in Caldwell. Funeral services
and wake will take place at the Holy Family Parish
of the Catholic Diocese of Liberia. Burial will
be in the Caldwell Cemetery, Liberia.
