SAMUEL PAYE ADORKOR TOE

It is with sad hearts that the Toe, Adorkor, Tompoe and Gildersleve Family announce that passing of the late Samuel Paye Adorkor Toe. He was called from labor to rest in his 89th year on Friday, October 4, 2013, at the ELWA Hospital, Monrovia, Liberia.  Mr. Adorkor Toe was born on June 28, 1924, in Trade Town, Grand Bassa County, Republic of Liberia, West Africa. He was a faithful civil servant who served his country well. For many years, he served as a Pioneer Surveyor with the Liberian Ministry of Lands and Mines under the late Director William McBourrough.  Mr. Toe faithfully served in that position until his reassignment to Grand Bassa County in 1977 as Chief Resident Surveyor by the late President William R. Tolbert Jr. He held the said position until his partial retirement from the government in 1983. He later served as a consultant from 1984 to 1987 when he fully retired. He was a faithful member of Bethel Temple African Gospel League Church where he served as Deacon for many years. He was a quiet but loving and caring person who was also concerned about others.

To cherish his loving memories, he leaves a devoted wife, Mrs. Mary Sundaywaye Toe and children: Samuel Toe Jr, Beatrice Toe Gildersleve (Joseph), Wesseh Toe (Eva), Martha Toe, Rebecca Toe Kwarbo (Doety), Sampson Yar Toe, Emanuel Toe (Martha), Adorkor Toe (Elizabeth), Ien Yar Toe (Veronica), Willemina Toe(predeceased) and Abraham Yar Toe (Korpo). He is also survived by 28 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; his brothers: Amos (predeceased), Henry (predeceased), Zohn, and George; his sisters: Konreed Neor Howard (predeceased), Kinylon (predeceased) Cecelia (predeceased), Marpue Chesson Parker, and Lazie; nieces, nephews, and host of other relatives in the United States, Ghana, and Liberia.
