Benedict Witteveen

On Saturday, December, 26, 2015 at Our Lady of Peace Home Health and Hospice in St. Paul MN, Benedict Witteveen left his family and was welcomed into the arms of God. He was 95 years old. Benedict (Big Daddy), will be remembered for his patience, dedication, faith and loyalty to his friends and family.

He leaves to mourn his the love of his life of 67 years Amelia Reeves . Together they nurtured and raised eight children, Martha Daidii, Bridgette Redd, Benetta Flahnma, Adalid Forkpeh, Benedict Witteveen, Steven Witteveen, Otu Zogaa and Gege Campbell.

Big Daddy's love for the Lord was so deep anyone who stayed in his house was not allowed to skip out of morning and evening "Prayer Time". He loved the old hymns and sang them to all who knew him. There was always a song or scripture on his mind. He was faithful member of the Catholic Church. He served for many years until his illness caught up with him and could not get out anymore.

A legacy is an inheritance that is handed down to the next generation. Big Daddy left a legacy of true Godly love and compassion which has continued on with nurses, pastors, teachers, missionaries, civil servants and many family members who are Christians.

Big Daddy will not only be missed by his family in America, but he was a much respected man in Liberia. Three generations of Liberians are holding memorial services in Buchanan and in District #1 in Grand Bassa County.

Eternally missed by his friends and loved ones, Big Daddy was welcomed home in heaven by his parents, Julia Gibson and Bart Witteveen; his children, Benedict Witteveen Jr. , Benetta Flahnma, Adalid Forkpeh and Steven Witteveen .
