Mrs. Whiema Tate-Wonasue

The Wonasue, Bracewell, Tate, and Taylor, families announce with deep sorrows the death of their mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and cousin, Mrs. Whiema Tate- Wonasue. This sad event occurred on May 3rd, 2019 in the State of North Carolina.

Aunty/Cousin Whiema, as she was affectionately called by her loved ones, was predeceased by her husband, Cllr., Isaac Erasmus Wonasue, Sr., former Deputy Commissioner, Bureau of Immigration and Naturalization and Senior Legal Counsel, Central Bank of Liberia (a prominent Liberian lawyer, from Maryland County, Liberia); son-Norneh G. Wonasue; parents–Mrs. Anna Bracewell-Tubman (Administrator and Proprietor) and Mr. Joseph B. Tate, Sr.; and brother - Joseph B. Tate, Jr. She leaves to cherish her life her children Monica Taylor-Woods; Alex Wonasue (Sylvia); Karty Izetta Wonasue-Wilson (Rembert); Isaac E. Wonasue, Jr., and several step and foster children. Mrs. Wonasue also leaves to mourn her loss eight grandchildren; and sisters – Romel L. Whyte, Amanda R. Carr, and Elouise S. Hayes; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. She was well loved by her family, church, and community.

Mrs. Wonasue previously served as Commissioner of the City of Congo Town, Liberia; President of the Liberia National Woman’s Missionary Union (auxiliary of the Liberia Baptist Missionary and Educational Convention); Deaconess, First Baptist Church, Oldest Congo Town; Administrator at the Bureau of Immigration and Naturalization; Administrator, Ministry of Finance; Founder, Congo Town Women Association; Sr. Member, National Women Commission of Liberia (NAWOCO); and Proprietor; among others.
