Mr. Joseph Calvin Woods

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Mr. Joseph Calvin Woods of Willingboro, New Jersey, who passed away on Wednesday November 25th, 2015 at the age of 72.

He was born on September 14, 1943, to Calvin Woods and Massa Seh in Toe Town, Grand Gedeh County, Liberia.

He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He had the most generous, loving heart and touched the lives of many. His family and friends will always be thankful for the gift that was his life. He was always willing to help others.

In his capacity as Project Manager for the Agriculture Project for Refugees (APR), an affiliate of the United Nations High Commission for Refugees, he assisted many refugees in becoming self-sufficient by establishing individualized agricultural projects, providing tools and other materials and personally trained many of these refugees in becoming successful farmers.

He moved to the United States with his family in October 25th, 2000 and settled in Willingboro, New Jersey. In 2003, he began working as a Human Services Assistant with the State of New Jersey, at the New Lisbon Developmental Center, going on to become a Cottage Training Technician. He continued in this position until his death on November 25th, 2015.

He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years Edna Woods and his children Josephine Topoh, Hannah Woods, Lartay Woods, Pastor Nuebah Matthews, Thelma Woods-Marwieh, Naomi Woods, Roland Woods, Tatee Woods, Zayzay woods, Korseh Woods, Sonnie, Yamma Biawogie, Small Aunty and his many grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind a wonderful group of friends and co-workers who loved him and he them. He will truly be missed.

There will be a Wake keeping ceremony on Friday, December 11th, at 7pm and the Funeral Service and Repast on Saturday, December 12th at 8am. Both Wake and Funeral services will be held at the St. Paul United Methodist Church, 201 Levitt Parkway, Willingboro, NJ, 08046 and will be officiated by Rev. Charles Levi Martin and Pastor Nubah Matthews. 

Interment will be at Lakeview Memorial Park, 1300 US -130, Cinnaminson, NJ, 08077.

Preparation of the body is being done by Goes-Scolieri Funeral Home, 212 Levitt Prky, Willingboro, NJ, 08046.
