The Wotorson, Stell, and King families announces with profound sadness and regret, the passing of Marva K. Wotorson, wife of Dr. Ambrose W. Wotorson. This unfortunate event took place in Washington, DC on January 31, 2015.
Marva Wotorson was the first child born to the union of Mr. Marvin King and Mrs. Clotheil Stell-King on April 24, 1938 in Dallas, Texas. Following Marva’s birth, the family moved to Kansas City, Missouri where Marva and her younger brother, John, both grew up.
In 1971, Marva Wotorson moved to Liberia with her husband Dr. Ambrose Wotorson and she, would embrace Liberia wholeheartedly.
In the early 1970s, Marva produced several successful television shows in Liberia including “Break for Women,” “Take 15,” “For the Ladies Special,” “Bargain Fair,” and “Dance Party.” Also while living in Liberia, Marva owned and operated a successful advertising business for many years, known as Malaika-Ahtinah Enterprises. Later, Mrs. Wotorson went to work for the Liberian Broadcasting System and remained there until leaving Liberia in 1987.
Marva Wotorson was preceded in death by her father, Mr. Marvin King. Left to celebrate the memories of her life are her mother, Clotheil King-Evans, her brother, John King, her husband, Dr. Ambrose Wotorson, Sr., her children, Ambrose Jr., Michael, and Tanyeno, her daughter in law, Bindu (Padmore) Wotorson , her seven grandchildren, Michaela, Miles, Nyoka, Nuntiah, Malaika, Nyen, and Mekhai, as well as a host of other relatives and friends in Liberia and the USA.
