Political Party: Date of Birth: Milton Nathaniel Barnes was born on April 6, 1954; the second of four children of Roland T. and Eudora N. Barnes, in Monrovia, Liberia. Education: His early education was acquired at parochial schools. He graduated from the College of West Africa (high school) in 1972. He attended the University of Liberia for one semester and worked at a bank for a year, before eventually going to the United States for college. Nat entered Rider University (then Rider College) in Lawrenceville, New Jersey in 1975 where in majored in Finance. Upon acquiring a B.Sc. degree from Rider in 1978, Nat matriculated to Pace University in New York City where he obtained an MBA with concentration in Finance and Banking in 1979. Previous Positions: In September of 1999, Nat was appointed to the position of Minister of Finance, Republic of Liberia. In July of 2002, Nat was terminated from the position of Minister of Finance. Beginnings: Nat spent his formative years in Harper, Maryland County and Monrovia, Liberia. He began his professional career with The Insurance Company of Africa in Monrovia. He was trained in management and insurance operations at in Des Moines, Iowa, and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He returned to Liberia in December 1979 and managed the underwriting function of the property and casualty division of the company. Nat Barnes has worked for Northern Telecom, Inc. (now NORTEL) and he has ran a successful telecommunications consulting firm whose clients included North American Wireless Inc., (a joint venture of AT&T and Cable & Wireless) and Montgomery County, State of Maryland.
In April 1998 he returned to Liberia where he started as a technician at the Ministry of Finance. In March 1999 Nat was appointed to the National Social Security and Welfare Corporation (NASCORP) as Director General.
Charities: Jesus Christ Children's Ministry of White Plains, an orphanage home and school in a rural community, - provides monthly food, medicine and supplies as well as quarterly stipends for the staff. With the assistance of overseas friends, the Barnes have embarked upon a reconstruction and renovation project to provide the children with better facilities.
A women's home economics school project on the outskirts of Monrovia which is designed to economically empower poor women who have few marketable skills. The International Professional Career Training Center of the Pipeline Community in Paynesville offers training in tailoring, pastry-making, hairdressing, and tie-dying. Instrumental in adding a literacy and small business management component to the training program. Fundamental goal: To make a positive impact on the lives of Liberian people.

Political Party: Liberia Unification Party (LUP) - Charles Brumskine resigned as the standard-bearer of the Liberia Unification Party LUP). Update: Brumskine resigned LUP because the party was embroiled in an internal wrangle that was centered around him and had caused a split within the party. He announced his resignation on October 18th, 2004 in the city of Gbarnga, Bong County Liberia. Brumskine said he made the decision against the backdrop that the National Elections Commission (NEC) announced that they will not allow any party embroiled in confusion, to participate in the upcoming elections. This development raises the questions as to whether Brumskine will form an alliance with another political party, or go as an independent candidate. Education: Kieh received his BA in political science from the University of Liberia and an M.A. and Ph.D. in political science from Northwestern University, Evanston.
