Robert.
L. Johnson, founder of the RLJ Companies,
and founder of Black Entertainment Television,
celebrated with a segment of the diplomatic
and Liberian communities, at the grand
opening of his latest business development,
the R.L.J. Kendejah Resort & Villas
located at Kendejah, in Monrovia, Liberia.
In
2007, Bob Johnson had made a promise
to President Sirleaf and the Liberian
people that he would aid in the reconstruction
of Liberia by investing in the country.
Since then Mr. Johnson has been actively
participating in 3 major projects
in Liberia: The R.L.J. Kendejah Resort
& Villas; a 30 Million Dollars
Investment Fund; and negotiations
to facilitate flights between the
US and Liberia via the US base carrier
Delta Airlines.
On June 9th, 2009, journalist and
photographers were taken on a tour
of the completed R.L.J. Kendejah Resort
& Villas which occupies some 13-acres
of ocean front property. The 78-room
villa style hotel has 2 presidential
suites, a restaurant, a board room,
a pool and deck, a spa, an exercise
room, and according to the hotel general
manager Ronald Stilting, plans are
currently underway to add a volleyball
court and a tennis court to the complex.
By
making this investment in Liberia,
Bob Johnson has added a beautiful
hotel that is ideally located on the
Atlantic beach front, to the Monrovia
landscape. It greatly improves the
look of the Kendejah area, increases
the property value of land and home
owners in the area and raises the
standards of the hospitality industry
in Liberia.
In
addition to this, the hotel has already
employed and trained 148 Liberians
who now offer visitors to Liberia,
accommodations and services of a 4
star rating. The Hotel and Resort
also creates new business opportunities
for Liberian entrepreneurs with products
and services that can be utilize by
the hotel.
When
asked about his experience doing business
in Liberia, Mr. Johnson replied, "great.
I haven't had any problems. Like President
said, Liberia is open for business".
