Rock Crusher - A Rock Quarry in Monrovia

March 2008

This section is dedicated to the hard working young men I met at Rock Crusher, on ELWA Road / Robertsfield Highway.

This rock quarry in Monrovia, in the ELWA area is called Rock Crusher.

These are the young men that work the quarry, "MANUALLY"! They wedge the rocks out of the water and roll it to higher ground

It's about midday and the Monrovia sun is hot. These boys are doing back breaking work, pulling out large pieces of rocks that will eventually become crush rock

To all the people sitting in air-conditioned offices complaining of working hard, want to trade places with these guys for one hour?

They break the rocks off cliffs with hammers into manageable pieces, then move it to higher ground, where they break it into smaller pieces.

This boy is breaking large chunks of rocks into smaller crush rocks. This rock will be used in the foundation of a house of building.
