(MONROVIA,
LIBERIA November 6, 2010): The
newly named Acting Ministers, replacing
Cabinet Ministers who have been sent on
administrative leave by President Ellen
Johnson Sirleaf, attended their first
Cabinet meeting Friday afternoon.
During
the special Cabinet meeting chaired by
Vice President Joseph N. Boakai in coordination
with the Acting Chair of the Cabinet,
Presidential Affairs Minister Edward B.
McClain, Jr., the Acting Ministers were
told that President Sirleaf expected them
to continue the business of government
as usual in their respective ministries.

Protection Agency (EPA) Gets New
Executive Director
(MONROVIA,
LIBERIA - September 17, 2010): Additional
appointments hae been made in Government
by President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf.
The appointments are subject to
confirmation by the Liberian Senate
where applicable.
Mr.
J. Ebenezer Kolliegbo
has been named Deputy
Minister for Administration
at the Ministry of Transport,
replacing Mr. Julius
Caesar, who goes to
the Legislative budget
office; while Mr. Andrew
Tehmeh, becomes Deputy
Minister for Planning
& Administration
at the Ministry of Gender
& Development. Mr.
Tehmeh replaces Mr.
Rufus Kaine, who becomes
Senior Economist in
the Planning Department
at the Ministry of Gender
& Development.
The
President also appointed
Ms. Sarah Malvin Jegede
as Commissioner on the
National Elections Commission
while Ms. Anyaa Vohiri,
becomes Executive Director
of the Environmental
Protection Agency.
Guinea has approached the government
of neighbouring Liberia to use its
second largest port for the export
of iron-ore, Guinea's interim prime
minister Jean Marie Dore told AFP
Thursday.
"We
held discussions with the Liberian
government on how the port of Buchanan
can be used by our country to export
our iron ore," Dore said at the
end of a three-day visit to Liberia
with a delegation of seven ministers.

Ethiopia
has admitted it is jamming the Voice of
America's (VOA) broadcasts in Amharic, accusing
the radio station of engaging in "destabilising
propaganda".
Prime
Minister Meles Zenawi said Ethiopia had
been testing jamming equipment, although
there had been no formal decision to bloc
the US station.
The
Amharic Service has experienced interference
since late February.
Mr
Meles also compared the VOA's transmissions
to broadcasts in Rwanda in the mid-1990s

Nigeria
has recalled its ambassador to Libya after
leader Muammar Gaddafi suggested Nigeria
be divided into two states - one Christian
and one Muslim.
The
foreign ministry said the Libyan leader's
statement was "irresponsible".

policy initiatives worth noting. For those

advocate for meaningful improvement in the
investment climate, we should be pleased.
The recent Executive Order by the President
suspending the import duty on vehicles (buses
and taxis) brought in specifically for commercial
public transportation, is excellent public
policy and takes the post-conflict nation
