Founder/Organizer, President/CEO 1st Commercial & Investment Bank Monrovia, Liberia
(June 18, 1953 – January 2, 2004)

Ten years today (January 2, 2014) is like yesterday. The memories of you live on. We thank God for the life, love and happiness we were blessed to share. The momentous task you accomplished and the achievements made during your 50 years spent on this earth is equated to what men achieve in a lifetime.

All visionaries are called to greatness by an inexplicable desire to achieve and accomplish certain preordained tasks, goals or mandates that serve as the driving force for his/her life experience. This calling is so strong that it, in most cases, consumes or overwhelms the individual and engenders an uncompromising passion to achieve these goals/ideals with relentless pursuit to the amazement of their families, friends and colleagues who are privileged, fortunate or unfortunate to witness the manifestation of this passion.

Edwin J. Cooper Jr. was one of those visionaries who was called to greatness and in his short 50 years of existence on this earth left his mark on his family, friends, colleagues and all of the lives he touched along the way. He may not have been thoroughly understood by all, and we dare to say sometimes misunderstood by some, but the passion he exhibited to achieve and accomplish his goals in this life may have served to establish his legacy in 50 short years.

You led a purpose driven life and realized your dreams. We prayed to God for your continuous sojourn with us but apparently you had reached your final destiny. “O Perfect Love”, ours was the love which knew no ending; we were truly joined in one with steadfast faith, patient hope, and a childlike trust that feared no pain nor death. Even in your death the memories of you engenders a joy which helps to brighten all earthly sorrow; and a peace which calms all earthly strife.”

We shared this passage taken from I Corinthians 13:
“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.”

This was your MO; you loved life, family and friends.
We miss you and hope to meet again In Dat Great Gettin’ Up Mornin’.

Love Always,
Vera, Edwin III (Manyuan, Elyse, Eyana) & Ericka (Gabriel, Gabrielle)
