Dolly A. Cheeks

Sunrise: 10/29/1941 – Sunset: 01/08/2020

Come unto me, all ye that labour and are havy laden, and I will give you rest. ~Matthew 11:28

Dolly Amelia Cheeks peacefully passed on to glory surrounded by love in Brooklyn, New York, on Wednesday, January 08, 2020.  She was born on Wednesday, October 29th, 1941, in Kakata Liberia, West Africa, to both the late General Charles Cheeks and Lucy Bettie-Cheeks.

Dolly was one of 16 children; however, she and her twin sister Olly were inseparable. Dolly was quite hilarious and had a dry sense of humor. She was a lover of fashion, fancied lovely dresses, purses, and hats. She had a very welcoming and loving nature and made everyone feel loved.  Dolly even gained the hearts and affection of her community in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, New York where she and her sister Olly were affectionately known by the local firehouse, neighbors and bodegas as “The Twins.” Dolly was a very very special Mother, Aunt, and confidante and will be deeply missed by all who came to know her.

Dolly is survived by her younger brother: Joey; her children: Olivia, Martin, Alfonso (AKA Tiny Tim), and grandson, Avery Adjei.

Her nieces & nephews: Neptina, Ngozi (Nicole), Nicholas, Demetrius, Miyesha, Derevious, Natalie (Erica), Christina, Howie, Isabella, Eugene, Othello, Vivian, Sylvia (Wewe), Melvina, Evangeline (Chinco), Renee (Yassa), Josephine (Morchie girl), Joseph (JT), Gladys (Aheba), Tasha, Teddy and a host of extended family - the Betties, Cheeks, and Smith – and friends.
