Augustus Van Chenoweth Sr.

The Chenoweth, Armstrong, Hoff, Harvey and Blake families announces with deep sadness the passing of their Father, Brother, Grandfather, Uncle, Cousin, Deacon and Friend, Augustus Van Chenoweth Sr. This unfortunate event occurred on June 4, 2019 in Monrovia, Liberia.

Van was born in Robertsport, Grand Cape Mount County, Liberia to Athelia Elizabeth Hoff-Armstrong and Mr. Charles Harvey Chenoweth on January 31, 1942. He attended elementary and
senior high schools in Robertsport.

He leaves to mourn his lost his children: Williamina “Teta” Chenoweth-Wordsword and Albert Victor Chenoweth. 6 grandchildren; sisters-in-law: Mrs. Ruth B. Armstrong, Mrs. Sally Armstrong; nieces; nephews; cousins; and a host of other relatives and friends in Liberia, the
United States, and Worldwide.

Van was predeceased by his mother, Athelia Elizabeth Hoff-Armstrong; Father Mr. Charles Harvey Chenoweth; his siblings Mr. Samuel Hoff, Mr. Steven Armstrong, Jr., Mrs. Hannah Armstrong-Chenoweth, Mrs. Eve Selina Armstrong-Lewis, Dr. Charles Wesley Armstrong (Ruth B.), Mr. Richard Armstrong (Sally), Mr. Thomas Armstrong; as well as three children: Augustus V. Chenoweth, Jr.; William V. Chenoweth, and Vinton Sam Chenoweth.

He was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Congo Town where he served as Deacon until his death and he taught at David Lombell Elementary and High School and Congo Town Elementary, Junior and Senior High School.
