Frederick was the only child for his mother Yohyahma Brooks, but he was one of ten (10) children to his father Emmanuel Morris.

Frederick graduated from the William VS Tubman High School in Monrovia, Liberia in the year 1969. After that he attended the Monrovia Vocational Training College (MVTC) where he became an Electrician and got his first job at the Monrovia Breweries. He later changed careers and pursued studies in Forestry. He also studied Agriculture at the University of Liberia while still working with the Forestry Development Authority until he retired in 1998.
