In Loving Memory of Our Dearest Moma Harriette Rebecca Minor (nee) White

Sunrise: November 18, 1927 – Sunset: January 26, 2020

Proverbs 31:16-17: She (Moma) considered a field and bought it; with the fruit of her hands she planted a vineyard. She dressed herself with strength and made her arms strong."

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful transition of Our Beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Great Great Grandmother, Aunt, Cousin, Friend and Devoted Matriarch of the family, Mrs. Harriette Rebecca Minor (nee) White who passed away peacefully during the early morning of January 26, 2020 at her daughter Siatta Victoria White's residence in Voker Mission, Paynesville, Monrovia, Liberia. Moma was 92 years old.

Mrs. Harriette Rebecca Minor White was born on November 18, 1927 unto the union of Mr. Charles Minor Sr. of Harper City, Maryland County (aka) Cape Palmas and Mrs. Mary Crusoe Minor. Her Father had a Son, her only brother, Mr. Charles Minor Jr. (pre-deceased) before she was born.

After her birth, her mother died and her father gave her to his cousin Mrs. Rachel Ann Jackson Hardy to raise as her own. That was the only mother that she knew. She lived with Mrs. Rachel Ann Hardy and her Husband Mr. Joseph Hardy together with their two sons, Joseph Hardy Jr. and Myer Hardy.

As she got older, she met Mr. Charles Hutchings of Harper city, Maryland County and they fell in Love and got married. That marriage was blessed with two Beautiful Daughters. They are Rebecca Hutchings (pre deceased) and Rachel Hutchins (g) of Providence, RI USA. That marriage ended in 1951 when her Husband Mr. Charles Hutchings met his early death in a car accident.

1955, she traveled to Monrovia to join her cousin/sister, Mother Agnes Gibson Doe. A short while after, her sister Mother Doe introduced her to one of her Best Friends Major Henry Olaf White of the Then Liberian Frontier Force (LFF). Shortly after, they got married in 1956.
That marriage was blessed with Five (5) Beautiful Daughters. They are :-  Mrs. Henrietta Tonia (Toto) White Holder of Cranston, RI, Miss Lydia Maima Precious White (pre deceased), Miss Siatta Victoria White of Paynesville, Monrovia, Liberia, Miss Gwendolyn Felicity White of Providence, RI USA and Wokie White (pre-deceased).

During their marriage they lived in the Soldier Barracks (aka) BTC and Buzzy Quarters in Monrovia, Liberia. Moma loved children. She raised many children. Some of them are Mr. Joseph D. White of Monrovia, Liberia, Mr. Marcus White (deceased) and Mrs. Maude White Russell of Caldwell, Liberia.

She leaves to mourn Six (6) Children. Rachel Hutchins (g), Joseph D. White, Henrietta Tonia (Toto) White Holder, Siatta Victoria White, Gwendolyn Felicity White and Maude White Russell.

Also mourning her loss are her (38) Grandchildren: Melvin Williams, Harriet Holder, Hilary Holder, Jr. Sheldon Holder, Henrietta Amie Massaquoi, James Massaquoi, Lance Gray, Momo Gray, Fritz Harryson, Bennie Harryson, Derek Harryson, Samantha Hutchins, Clifton Hutchins, , Malcolm Sobboh, Michael Sobboh,  Kelvin Kennedy, Alexzene Capehart, Precious Lydia Capehart, Scarlet White, Jaasu Russell, Jamesetta Russell. 

Eleven (11) Great grand Children- Benjamin, Dante, Beau, Payton, Faizon, Melik, Aydin, Derek Jr. and Two (2) Great great grand Children - Nia Richards and Gwendolyn Massaquoi.

Also left to mourn are a host of nieces, nephews, Ms Victoria Minor. Mr. Spencer Minor, Wade Minor, Rochford Minor and Charlesetta Minor, (John Minor and Tarly Minor (pre-deceased). her former son in-law, Hilary S. Holder, Sr., other relatives and friends in the USA, Liberia, Sierra Leone and Ghana, W. Africa. She also leaves to mourn many Cousins and Wonderful Friends. Some are:-  Mrs. Nora Crusoe, Mrs. Charlotte Harmon, Mrs. Sarah Marpee Swen and her Siblings, Mr. Dash Gardner and sister Mrs. Felecia Gardner, Theora Cooper and Family and Mrs. Lucinda Gardner Johnson.

She was pre-deceased by her Uncles and Aunts and First Cousins. They are (UNCLES) Mr. Joseph Crusoe, Mr. Henry Laffey Crusoe.  (AUNTS) Mrs Nora. Crusoe Brewer, Mrs Anna Crusoe, Miss Mariah Crusoe, Mrs Talitha Minor Gardner, and Mrs Zeetia Minor Lee.
(FIRST COUSINS):-  Mrs. Talitha Lee Cooper, Miss Rebecca Lee, Mrs. Dolly Minor Smith, Miss Martha Minor, Mrs. Mariam Minor Norman, Attorney Francis Gardner, Mr. Jimmy Lee, Mr. Nathanel Lee, Mr. John Wesley Minor, and Major Thomas Crusoe.

Hag, Old Hag (as she was affectionately called), Moma, Ma, Aunty, Sister, Cousin Harriette, Crowd of Girl, Best Friend and Mother White was a very loving and devoted mother, a Christine woman who loved her God and had a deep passion for her family, humanity and lifting people up. Moma was a reassuring voice and presence in the lives of everyone who came in contact with her. She Loved People!

May the Soul of our Beloved Mother Harriette Rebecca Minor White Rest In Perfect Peace and May Light Perpetual Shine Upon Her Until We Meet Again. Many Thanks to Everyone for your Love and Support! The Family!
